Mary Leahy, APRN, FNPC
Family Nurse Practitioner , Certified
Mary graduated from Yale University with a Masters Degree in Nursing in 1995. She is nationally certified and has been practicing as a family nurse practitioner ever since. She received her Bachelor of Science degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut in 1985. She worked as a registered nurse at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for over 10 years. Mary has been a highly successful nurse practitioner , in both general and specialty practices. She has extensive training in women’s health care, adolescent and young adult populations, industrial care, osteoporosis, and development and aging throughout the lifespan. She has been a well established family practice provider in the Farmington Valley since 2001. She has been active in research, and has provided lectures to both professional and laypersons on a variety of topics including: heart disease, headaches, osteoporosis, women’s health, menopause, and coping with aging parents. Mary continually pursues new knowledge in the field of health; and the care that she provides reflects a timely response to today’s best medical thinking.

Kelly Pfeiffer APRN graduated from Simmons School for Health Studies
in Boston with a Masters Degree in Nursing with Distinction in 2008. She joined Roaring Brook Family Practice in 2008. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing Magna Cum Laude, from Simmons College in 2005 and worked as a registered nurse at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. She has special interests in reproductive health, maternal-child health, and primary prevention of acute and chronic health conditions for both men and women. She has a strong commitment to engaging her patient as a partner and active participant in all health care decisions.

Our Collaborator
Mary and Kelly currently collaborate with Doctor Arnold Koff, who occupies the suite directly across the hall. Doctor Koff is an internal medicine physician , who has vast experience in the areas of Cardiology, General Medicine , and Aeronomics. Doctor Koff is available to the nurse practitioners for consultation at anytime, immediately, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
As nurse practitioners, we assume full responsibility and accountability for our practice. We approach health care in a holistic manner and consider many realms in patient care. In general, nurse practitioners provide care for common medical problems and collaborate with physicians when cases are more complex. In the State of Connecticut, Nurse practitioners are licensed to prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests. In general, nurse practitioners strive to provide comprehensive health education and prevention of future medical problems.
